Odense Blomsterfestival 2013

Her haaaar I mig tilbaaaage.

Bare blomsterporno - same procedure as last year.

@ N ~ I'm back. Back from my delightful summer holiday (it's been two weeks already, sigh), and back from the annual Flower Festival.  Are you ready for a bit of flower porn?

Ta-daa - wedding! Saturday is a big day
for civil ceremonies. The mayor of Odense abandons
his boring old office (which might be very nice for all
I know) and opens up shop in Lotze's garden, a small
park close to Hans Christian Andersen's home.
I think 12 or 14 couples were married there that day!

Flower people :-)

The world!
Dubai does it with artificial islands.
We do it with blue glass pebbles
and tiny plants ...

On the town hall square they had a massive
dome with blue watering cans and plants
hanging from the top. It doesn't look huge in this
photo, but it was.

I don't mind snails so much if they're
not actually alive, munching on my plants ...

Ah, dear old Blighty

If you have a rusty old car sitting around that
you don't really know what to do with ...

...you could do this! :-)

Tiny flower people

Octopus - brilliant!

The flowers are sponsored by various flower
producers, and they all did an interpretation of
this year's theme which was "Out into the world".

This one was my favourite - of course. An airport,
with check-in desks, baggage carousel, suitcases,
and flowers:

I just loved-loved-loved this display!
(can you tell?)

The Flower Festival runs from Wednesday or
Thursday through Saturday.
Saturday night everything is taken down, and
the flowers are taken to the square in front of
the city hall.
And Sunday morning, the Flower Sale begins:

The proceeds of the sale are split between the
Flower Festival, and an organisation for young
Danish gardeners (who volunteer for the not
insignificant task of taking the whole thing down
and organise the Flower Sale, plus do a million
other things during the festival itself.)

As you can see from the handsome specimen in the
bright orange apron, these are fine folks indeed!

And as you can see here, we showed
remarkable self-restraint at the Flower Sale 2013!

Quality Inspection

Approved.

Last but not least:

Your honoured blogger, looking pleased as punch
(which she was)
Thank you for reading - if you're still here ...

Er I der endnu?

                        ...hallo?

One of these years I'm going to make it over there for the flower festival and then you can be my official tour guide!
