@ N ~ A Year in Pics.  Mobile Uploads, to be exact - since my Iphone revolutionized my life back in the spring and enabled me to up the spamming of your facebook newsfeed.

This little picture post is partially for my own enjoyment. As we all know, between Xmas and New Years, "looking back" is da bomb. It's also for my aunts and a few other regular readers who aren't friends with me on facebook.

But mostly, of course, it's for you :-)

6. april:
"I Kina tager de det med ansigtsMASKE
helt bogstaveligt"

- Da jeg kom ind i stuen iført denne her,
skreg min søster højt, og Køkkenfaster
væltede sin kaffekop

"In China, they mean it literally when
they say faceMASK"

-I came into the living room looking like
this (I swear, when I bought it, I thought it
was a normal facemask), and my sister screamed
and my aunt spilled her coffee

10. april:

"Anyone wanna stop by for a sandwich with
skerpikjot (dried mutton)? I have
some in my garage"

- from The Faroese Invasion, Easter 2012.
We were almost done renovating my little
house, and just to check its capacity, I
lent it to my friend from the Faroe Islands
and her family (only the closest
15 relatives, of course :-)
It was one of the best events of 2012

30. April:
"Kom til cirkus i Øster Starup i aften"

- det kom jeg faktisk ikke. Faster Aspargestyv
gav hele familien en kæmpeforskrækkelse ved
at ryge på sygehuset.

"Come to the circus tonight"

- which I never did; my aunt was hospitalized
and gave us all a scare.
But she is well again, except that she seems
to have lost her mojo, and it is now possible
to beat her at playing cards ...

16. maj
"My guilty pleasure"

New Orleans tværs over Louisiana til
Austin i Texas. Jeg bliver mere og mere glad
for USA - og for Dr Pepper ...

- Taken at an Austin, TX motel on the last
morning of our mini Nawlins-Austin road trip,
before we flew down to Cancun.

Diet Dr Pepper is a habit I picked up in PDX, by the way.

16. maj:
"The view from our humble abode"

- The view from our humble abode luxury
hotel room in Cancun.
Totally.Amazing.Wow.

3. juni:
"Ashes to ashes, dust to dust"

- Weekend i søsterboblen, som foruden almindelig
hygge og gode mængder sushi også omfattede
en spurvebegravelse under søsters stikkelsbærbusk.

- Weekend in the sister bubble. We found this
little sparrow who had flown against a window,
and gave it a proper funeral.
It now rests under my sister's gooseberry bush.

9. juni:
"Min far er ét med sin gummiged"

(ingen beskrivelse nødvendig)

- My dad and his favourite toy.

28. juni:
"Strawberries, gooseberries, and elderflower.
Midsummer in a bowl!"

- En varm dag, udenfor mit lille hus. Ren lykke.

As I recall, the summer of 2012 wasn't
a particularly warm or sunny one. But we did
have a few wonderful days here and there,
and I think this was one of them.

I had just bought LBC and had driven out
to a "pick your own" strawberry farm. Bliss!

19. juli:
"@Baresso. The barista loves me (or loves me
not, but either way it was a damn good coffee Diane)"

Vedr.

-A coffee break on my way to work.

"Diane" was a reference to Special Agent Dale
Cooper in Twin Peaks - he loved a good cup of
coffee. 2012 is the 20th anniversary
of Twin Peaks. I loved it - but was really, really
afraid of  BOB ....

18. august:
"Cat not dead. Cat merely asleep on my bed.
Will be available for cuddles later"

- Den traditionelle Blomsterfestivals-visit
hos Familien Hittemis - vi ser her husets egentlige
indehaver, den prægtigste kat af alle.

- Cat. The most glorious creature on this earth.
Taken on my annual Flower Festival
visit to my friends M&M.

19. august:
"What do you mean, did I buy too many plants?
There is no such thing!"

- Årets beskedne udbytte fra Odense Blomster-
festivals søndagssalg.

- From the traditional ending of the
Flower Festival: the plant sale

8. september:
"September = nyhøstede marker og blå himmel"

- Jeg elskerelskerelsker at være flyttet ud på
landet igen.

"September = newly harvested fields and blue sky"

- I loveloveLOVE living out in the countryside
again. Even with the long commute and everything,
I am still overjoyed about my little house
out in the sticks :-)

2. oktober:

"I didn't bring a book - but now I've acquired
some literature for the return trip.
Only 817 pages ..."

- A oneday trip to Frankfurt (which I totally
intend to write a blog post about). Didn't bring
a book with me on the way out, but that was
soon remedied.

An illustration of the true love of my life:
BOOKS!

6. oktober:
"Udsigten.

"The view. I could get used to this"

- The Sister Bubble travelled to the Faroe
Islands for the confirmation of my friends' daughter.

I've never been to Iceland or Greenland, but I'm sure
they're lovely and fantastic. But the Faroes - I am
biased, I know, but it's just such a lovely corner of
the world, and full of lovely people.

7. oktober:

- Kirken i Sandavagur

- The church in Sandavagur - beautiful!

24. oktober:
"Me! In my youth - sporting the classic look
with a cigarette and coloured lenses.
And you can be sure that at least two
out of the three wine glasses are mine!"

- Found this while sorting through some old
pictures.  The contact lenses are very Twilight -
I was ahead of my time :-)

It's a great picture, by the way. I am young,
happy, and as you can tell from the cigarette,
I am giving Death the finger.

24. oktober:
"I am so fortunate - my life is full of wonderful,
wonderful people"

- Fødselsdagsgave fra min superseje
veninde i USA

- From the awesome R. in KC.
I couldn't wait the four days until my birthday ...

3. december:
godt blive ganske lykkelig"

"A cold Monday morning at Skanderborg
station - the snow is tumbling down, and
I feel quite happy"

Snow fell on Saturday, December 1st.
I went for a walk at 11 o'clock at night,
snow flakes kissed my lips,
the sound of foot steps was muffled,
and I felt happier than I had been
in a long time.
*

13. december:

indtages i udsøgt selskab

"Luxury dinner for Dad and me"

- Swedish delicatessen from the
frozen foods aisle  :-)

23. december:

"The view from my sofa - where I'm lying right
now (with The Polar Express, some Xmas cookies
and a glass of red for company).
Happy Little Christmas Eve!"

- Photo no. 20; thanks for hanging in there :-)
On the morning of the 23rd it was snowing heavily
- 12 hours later, most of it was gone, so we didn't
get a truly White Christmas this year.

After a drop-off at the airport, I put on my
Christmas socks, vowed not to go anywhere for the
next 72 hours, poured a glass of red wine and
let myself be absorbed by
Christmas.

PS - sidste indlæg var faktisk nummer 400. Og 13. november havde bloggen her 3 års fødselsdag. Hurra!

Mange tak - og godt gået at du læste helt "i bund" :-)

Ok, I like your life much, much better than mine. Can't I come live with you and be your housekeeper or something? I'm sooo done with city living and envy you...but, am also happy for you because you deserve all the best!

By the way, did you realize how well the first two pictures go together? Chainsaw killer mask and hunk of flesh hanging in the garage. Or is that just what I see? ;D

You only get to see the fun stuff. But you're welcome to come - au pair, perhaps? Yes?

I had NOT thought of how well the first two photos go together, but I am not at all surprised that YOU did - and you are so right :-)
